Tasting Guide
Investigating Wine uses the following popular wine tasting guide, developed by a group of wine professionals, merely to provide an organization to the wines which we taste. We include it on the homepage as a point of entry, rather than a means of confining our restricting our own tasting experience with each wine. Moving into the future we are going to add a whole new tier to this wine tasting guide, of strange and interesting flavors that we have identified, that may be more accurate to our taste personally. We hope that this guide provides a starting point for you to find your own unique flavors and tastes that exist inside and outside of the bounds the tasting guide provides. Thanks for joining us!
Primary Aromas and Tastes
From the type of the grape or the environment in which it grows
Secondary Aromas and Tastes
From the fermentation process, which includes yeast and other microbes
Tertiary Aromas and Tastes
From aging wine; aging aromas come from oxidation and resting the wine in oak or bottles for a period of time
Fault Aromas and Tastes
An excess of these flavors is considered a wine fault, you’ll find that many will disagree as to whether or not some of these categories are truly faults
